Every Saturday night in September, and Friday and Saturday nights this October... blast off with astronomy experts from The Jasper Planetarium for an exclusive dining and stargazing experience atop the Jasper SkyTram. After a virtual orientation of the sky in an inflatable planetarium, your SkyTram flight will take you 1 km closer to the stars above at the Upper Station. You'll have access to the most powerful telescopes in the Canadian Rockies under the darkest skies in Canada.
Join a guided tour, learning about planets, galaxies, and constellations, and more. If you're lucky, you might even see a meteor or the northern lights... All on top of a mountain!*

Planetarium Dome Experience
A short introduction of the night sky. Learn about the constellations and planets that you will be able to explore through the telescopes later that evening.
Dinner (optional)
Once the meal has ended, we invite you to experience the following programming of the night brought to you by the Jasper Planetarium.
Telescope Experience
This memorable experience involves a look at how our telescopes work, a 4K 'instant replay' from a video-based telescope, which can record the sky when it's clear and play back those views when it's not so clear, a look at how to photograph the night sky, and spectacular views though the telescopes (weather-permitting). Please see personalized schedules for your times.
*Weather is an element that is continually changing and is out of our control. Star Sessions will run rain or shine - please be aware of weather conditions ahead of time. In the event of foul weather, the indoor components of the event will run as scheduled and the telescope guides will be showcasing different astrological events that can and have been witnessed throughout the Athabasca Valley. You will have the opportunity to view the Jasper townsite and valley along with astrophotography viewings. Cancellations outside of 24 hours prior to the event will receive a full refund. If cancelling within 24 hours, there will be a cancellation fee of $59.95+GST per person. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Due to the unique nature of Star Sessions a minimum number of attendees are required for the event to run. Please read our Health and Safety page for information on our health and safety procedures.
